I'm into New Year's resolutions! How about you?
I spent a lot of time thinking at the end of last year about what kind of projects I want to make and how to go about it. As the name implies Perky Penny Paper Arts isn't just about making cards but also about playing with paper. I love my paper :)With so many fun stamps, dies, techniques, embellishments etc. my lovely papers sit and collect dust some times. I decided that this year I would blow off the dust and play with my paper more.
One of my favorite things to do with paper is play with beautiful dies. Well, when I think of dies there is one company that comes to mind and that is Spellbinders Paper Arts. In my research I found that Spellbinders has not one but two great monthly die clubs to join AND a monthly card making kit as well. Not only that but they were incredibly affordable. From the Small Die Club at $7.50 plus shipping to all 3 kits for $50 plus shipping. A fantastic deal any way you look at it.
I decided to start with the middle of the line $20 Large Die of the Month set for January. Check out all the dies I got for $20. How much fun is that!
I got out some of my 6 x 6 paper pads and started creating.
This first 3 card I created using the My Mind's Eye Blush 6 x 6 paper pad.
On the card above I popped up the flowered panel and used the die cuts to create a flower which I coordinated with the leaves already printed on the paper. There is a thin strip of foam tape behind the vellum that pops up the sentiment, Tim Holtz Ideaology Small Talk Stickers, as well.
This second is a card made to celebrate a friends wedding. I stamped a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Everyday Greetings, in Navy Hero Arts Ink, several times to get the color as close to the paper as possible. I die cut the small scalloped lattice heart from a piece from the paper pack and a rose gold glitter piece from a DCWV paper pack.
Some rose gold sequins from Pretty Pink Posh made for the perfect finishing touch.
The last card made from the Blush paper is this cute heart card that uses the largest die in the set. I also used the strip of hearts to create some texture to my card. This one might be my favorite.
Stamped it with a stamp from Concord and 9th's On Your Side stamp set and couple of sequins and this little doll is all ready for the party :)
The paper on this next card is from the current Recollections Paper Pack called Valentine from Michaels. I needed to get a Valentine's Day card in because what would heart dies be without it :) The Love Die are from Spellbinders and also comes with the word You and a heart.
To add dimension and interest I popped up the word strip and the lattice heart on top of the card.
These pretty papers are from Flora collection from Echo Park Paper Company. I fussy cut some of the flowers from the cut out heart, to pop up around the sentiment which is also from the paper pad.
Thank you so much again for checking out this week's project :) Check back often for new posts and videos.
Have a great weekend :)
