Christmas Treat Box Featuring A Charming Christmas Collection By Becca Feekan

I'm sharing this adorable gift box today.  I created it using the new Charming Cottage Etched Dies set from A Charming Christmas Collection by Becca Feekan.   I know it's a little early for Christmas projects but I just couldn't resist playing with this adorable gift box when I opened my happy mail.

To bring the house to life I decorated by adding dimension in several different ways. Check out the directions below and I will tell you how.

Papers:

110 lb White Card Stock
  • 1 - A2 panel

Woodgrain Cardstock

  • 1 - 8 1/2" x 11" sheet
Green, Shimmer Red, Mirror Gold, and Silver Kraft paper as needed for die cuts

Directions:

  1. Die cut the box base out of the new Lawn Fawn Neutrals Woodgrain Card Stock.  Fold and score the box pieces and use quarter inch scor-tape to attach the side flaps and bottom flaps together.
  2. Die cut eight scalloped roof panels out of the shimmer red card stock.  Attach the first shingle on each side hanging over the edge of the roof line with just glue and  the other three using foam tape.  I love how this made each shingle pop.
  3. I'm a huge fan of the adorable scrolls.  I die cut six total and stacked and glued three together.  This created some beautiful decorations for the other roof sides.
  4. There are 2 dies to use to create each shape of window.  I die cut the solid shape out of silver kraft paper and the solid/frame out of white for each of the windows.  I then glued a silver piece to a frame for each of the windows and then attached them to the house.
  5. I added a few leaves around the roof line and windows and a door die cut out of red and then onto the last step, the trees.
  6. I first created the corner tree by die cutting four of the tree dies from the kit and cutting off the toppers and the trunks.  I then folded each of the trees in half.  I took my first tree and put glue on one of the sides and matched it to another tree and held them together for a few seconds until the bond was secure. I then repeated this until all four were connected except for the two ends.  I then applied glue to the two ends and attached one end to the front and one to the side.
  7. I created the bow for the tree topper using the same method as step 6 except with 3 bows.
  8. Finally I created another tree using three die cuts of it and the same method as step 6.  To give the tree a slightly different look I kept the trunk intact and carefully cut off the topper so the tree would appear as tall as possible.
As for Santa he is a sticker I had in my stash and I just think he fit perfectly.  Don't you?  Such a fun, cute, and easy project. I really am happy with how all of the dimension makes this cottage pop.

Welcome

Here are some sobering statistics:
  • Every year suicide is responsible for over 800,000 deaths, which equates to one death every 40 seconds.
  • Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in the world, and 3rd in the United States for those aged 15-24 years old.
  • Every life lost represents someone's partner, child, parent, friend, or colleague.  For each suicide approximately 135 people suffer intense grief or are otherwise affected.  This amounts to 108 million people per year who are profoundly impacted by suicidal behavior.

My Post:
June 4th, 2018 was a normal day for me... I was checking on my Facebook feed and started seeing posts surrounding an old high school friends who's son had passed away.  There was no reason given initially but I just had a feeling I couldn't shake. Several weeks later my suspicions were confirmed and in the words of his mom depression took his life.  She is steadfast in the belief that her son would never had done this to himself. He was 21, popular, had a wonderful girlfriend, a year left in college and an adoring family, and no one knew he was sick.  No one knew of his depression.
We have all heard so many similar stories and been affected by suicide in some way. I kept thinking that as a card maker I could help make a difference and the I Care Stamp set idea was born. Because all we need to do is say I care to hopefully save a life.

I had never created a stamp set but within a week, and with lots of googling I designed and sent this stamp set off for a sample to be created. The rest as they say is history.

You will find some incredible personal stories of survival and compassion, and card making inspiration from some amazing people. These women really stepped up with only 6 weeks to create in their already busy, busy schedules. Heidi, Tina, Erica, Kat, Ilina, Dana, Jennifer, Tracie, Marci and Vera you are my angels and I can't thank you enough!  I hope these posts inspires you to gather, share, make, and gift.

Check out this video where I show you some quick and easy card ideas you can share with  your non-card making friends. All you need is the stamp set, some card bases, and ink.
Thank you to Simon Says Stamp© and the entire Blog Hop Team!
Together we will all make a difference!

*Suicidal behavior includes suicide, and also encompasses suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. For every suicide, 25 people make a suicide attempt and many more have serious thoughts of suicide.
