Beyond Basic Backgrounds - AECP Level 2 Featuring Botanical You

Today I am sharing my next project that I completed for the Altenew Educator Certification Program.  These cards are based on the Beyond Basic Background Class in the Altenew Academy.  This class consists of 6 lessons in which 6 different background techniques are shared using different paper crafting supplies.  My cards are based on lesson 6 specifically which was all about inlaid die cuts.  This is such a great technique because it's a great way to get 2 cards at once.

I started by taking 3 panels of  5 1/4" x 2 3/4" and creating 3 different backgrounds.  The first piece I left white, the second piece I wrapped in the Floral Flurries Washi Tape from Altenew, and the third I created a blended ink background.  I used  Buttercream, Coral Berry, and Midnight Violet Altenew Crisp Dye Inks and blended a background using the largest flower in the Floral Flurries Washi Tape, also from Altenew, as inspiration.  I then die cut the YOU die that coordinates with the Botanical You stamp set out of the center of each of the 3 panels.

I prepared 2 card bases that measured 5 1/2" x 3".  The first card consists of the washi panel centered on the card base and the blended letters adhered in the spaces vacated with the die.  To create the second card I cut the blended panel and the white panel in half horizontally.  and then cut a 1/2" strip off the left over piece of blended paper.  I attached the blended piece to the bottom of the card base, then attached the word in place, and then added the white to the top portion.  To balance out the card I added the strip of the blended paper at the top of the card base.
