DIY Frame Stencil For Border Stamps (featuring Winnie & Walter)

I like border stamps, how about you? :)

I love border stamps and have quite a few but I wanted to be able to do more than just stamping them across a page.  I wanted to be able to create a frame around the card with nice mitered edges like a picture frame.  The Holiday Trimmings set from Winnie & Walter is a wonderful set with a candy cane stripe that was perfect for what I wanted to do. I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder over Gina K. Designs Cherry Red ink to give the card some shine.  It almost looks edible.

To achieve the frame I created my own stencil by cutting a 6" x 6" piece of plastic from one of my large stamp storage pouches that I use.  There is a supplies list below for your reference.  I started with a piece of acetate that was 10 mil thick.  That was too thick and the edges would not stamp completely which led me to the stamp pouches which worked perfectly.  I simply took the 6" square plastic and cut it in half on the diagonal and then flipped one of the pieces and lined them up so as to create a triangle opening to stamp in.   Because they are plastic they are washable and reusable.  This would work with any size square as long as your stamp fits.  It is also important to make sure that your card is as close to the exact size of the stencil as possible.

Foiling Without Fuss Featuring Gina K Designs and MFT Stamps and Dies

I love Shiny, Bling-y cards, how about you? :)

I needed to create a quick card that would be sent to a child in Virgin Gorda.  Their community was destroyed by Hurricane Irma and one of the way we card makers can help is just to send a card to put a smile on someones face.  All I could think of is the videos I have seen that show how these amazing kids, who are faced with such a difficult situation, are still smiling. I wanted this card to help them smile when they maybe are feeling down and I wanted it to shine just like their beautiful smiles.

The quick part was accomplished by using scor-tape and foil to create an easy wow card.  Check out the short and sweet video I created for it below.  With the right colors and sentiment I think this would make a fantastic holiday card too.
