Clean & Simple Boutique Card - Altenew Education Certification Program Project

Today's card features a city very near and dear to my heart.  My home town of Sydney, Australia.  This is the first stamp set that I purchased from Altenew.  I was so excited because not only did it have Sydney, it also had Shanghai which happened to be a city I was planning on visiting soon, and that my brother and his family were currently living in.  It is a fantastic stamp set that represents these two cities beautifully.

This is a very quick and simple, one layer card.  I did a little stamp surgery on one of the sentiments to create the "my favorite place to be is" stamp and lined it up in my MISTI.  I then took the Sydney stamp and placed that where I wanted it.  I put an A2 sized card into my MISTI and stamped the sentiment.

Using a long acrylic block I stamped the Sydney Skyline stamp just above the sentiment, and then with a ruler and black pen I created a border a short distance from the top of the buildings.  This would create a focal point in which to add some color.  I kept it simple by focusing the color on the natural elements.  The sky was created with a variety of Copic colors that are listed below and then I used a dark and a light green to color the shrubs.  The final touch was to add clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen to the rest of the image.  Unfortunately it doesn't show up in the photos, but it added just the right touch to the card.

Links to all of the products are available below.  Check out Ellen Hutson as soon as you can.  When I am writing this she has Copic Markers at a great price on her website.  The links are below.

Thank you so much for spending your time with us today.  Have a wonderful, crafty weekend!

Love,

Joanne and Penny

My Monthly Hero April 2018 featuring One Die 9 Ways

As of this writing this kit is still available at www.heroarts.com while supplies last so if you would like the set hurry on over to purchase.
Have you ever needed a bunch of cards quickly?  I find in those situations a good cover die can go a long way.  There was a wonderful bonus in the April 2018 My Monthly Hero Kit, a full size cover die!  And this one is really special.  I created several sets of cards and a few singles--31 in total--in one day thanks to this timesaver, and I thought I would share them with you just in case you are ever in need of some quick cards for a gift or charity, to sell or just send out individually.  There are 9 different ways I used the die in total.  Most of these cards won't be decorated or have a sentiment yet.  That way I can customize them later, when I need them.

The products used in today's cards were minimal.  I used the kit, which included a huge, adorable stamp set; coordinating dies for many of the images; the aforementioned cover die…

Easy Ink Blending featuring Leaf Burst Stencil - AECP Level 1

Had some fun ink blending with a stencil today and such a pretty one at that.  This card was inspired by the Easy Ink Blending Techniques class at Altenew Academy.  It was a great class, check it out if you want to learn some new tips and tricks :)  Several techniques are discussed, from creating your own matching card stock to faux watercoloring. Here is a quick video of the process I describe below.  I was able to create this card using the Leaf Burst Stencil from Altenew.  I blended Wild Honey Distress Ink in the center and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink on the outer leaves.  To take it up a notch, I turned the stencil (so that the tall leaves overlapped the short leaves) and blended the Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink onto the page.  I was careful to use sticky notes on the open areas around the square so I had this pretty pattern only on the page.
I created a matching pink border by inking the edge of a 6" square piece of white card stock with the Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.…

Invisible Easel Card featuring EllenHutson.com's Mondo Sakura Stamps and Dies

I am in love with Cherry Blossoms!  They are so fun to color that whenever I see a Cherry Blossom stamp, I simply have to have it.  The new Mondo Sakura (Cherry Blossom in Japanese) and coordinating die from Ellen Hutson are no exception.  This set has another quality I love in my flower stamps:  they are HUGE!!!!!  Having all that space to color is just dreamy.  At first glance this card may seem complicated to create but I am here to dispel that myth.
To create this card, you will need 2 sheet of 5" x 6" Hero Arts Acetate (one cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and one folded on one side at 1 1/4” inch on the 6” side);  2 sheets of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" 110 lb white card stock (one cut with the cover die of your choice, and one folded in half and cut with the 3rd largest die from the Infinity Tag Frames Die set by Hero Arts [so you have 2 tags]); and 2 sheets of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Bristol Smooth card stock (to stamp and emboss the Mondo Sakura on).  I will colo…
