Masking Unleashed - AECP Level 2

I am sure many have heard of the old shaving cream and food coloring or re-inker technique. I recently received some of the Nuvo Shimmer Powders and decided to give them a try with this technique.  Head over to my YouTube channel to check out the process and how fun this combinations is.  The powder form is wonderful.  To create the colors in the powder they mix different pigments together.  What this means is when you sprinkle a little bit of powder you are actually sprinkling many colors onto the shaving cream.  I must say this is a little addictive.

Today I paired the technique with my Masking Unleashed class project for the Altenew Educators Certification Program.  The cards turned out great.  I'm in love with these mega sentiment dies too!  This is a great way to make a one layer card (meaning no bulk because I did adhere these panels onto card bases).  Oh and I should also mention they smell GREAT too!

Video:

You will find the shaving cream technique on this video at 1:10.  Watch it and then follow the directions below to create the cards.

Directions:

  1. Watch video (link above) to familiarize yourself with the shaving cream/shimmer powder technique.
  2. Take Altenew Thank You and Hello Mega dies and cut them out of Simon Says Stamp masking paper.  Adhere to the front of white card stock panels.
  3. Follow directions from the video and when the shaving cream and powder are ready put one of the panels in the shaving cream masked side down.  Use a spatula to take off access.  Be careful with the masks.  I work from the inside to the outside with these masks.
  4. Let panels dry.  Typically takes about a half hour or so.
  5. Trim down panels and put on card bases.
  6. Sniff :)  Best smelling cards ever!
